Date: 27/10/25: One in 20 churches could shut by end of decade. The dire state of Britain's churches has been revealed, with thousands facing closure within the next five years amid mounting concerns over soaring repair bills. The charity said this was equivalent to about 2,000 churches UK-wide as the cost of maintaining historic buildings that have stood for centuries becomes impossible.

 

 

 

 

 

Date: 6/10/25: Revolutionary changes to house buying process proposed by government.

The government says: We are interested in introducing a mandatory requirement for sellers to work with conveyancers and surveyors to carry out searches and a property condition assessment prior to listing. We recognise this would represent a significant change, so it would not happen immediately. We would work with industry to understand how and when this should be introduced.  

Upfront information could go beyond what the law currently requires in terms of ‘material information’ in property listings. We propose requiring a standardised, easy-to-digest set of data at the point of listing.

Date: 15/9/25: New homes complaints summaries by the New Homes Ombudsman Service (NHOS).

Date 14/8/25: Awaab's Law is a new law that comes into force on 27 October 2025. This legislation requires social landlords to fix reported damp, mould and emergency repairs within strict timeframes.
